The region is home to almost 10% of UK Research & Development expenditure, much of which is delivered in partnership with local universities
The region generated a rise in private sector employment of 120,000 jobs between 2009 and 2014. There are 1.4 million private sector jobs in the West Midlands Combined Authority area.
